Welcome Fellow Wefasters!

Welcome to the WIFS-Arkansas Blogsite

I would like to start out by saying that I am glad each of you has decided to be part of WeFast Intermittent Fasting Support for Arkansas.  I’m looking forward to sharing with each of you about your own journeys with Fasting and Intermittent Fasting.

I will be setting up the first Quarterly Group “Break Fast” meeting in a sometimes in January of 2019.  Check the “Events” page for details.   I plan on setting it for 8am hopefully at Duffers restaurant in Bella Vista, Arkansas  I would like to schedule it for a day that is convenient for the majority of the group members.  So I would like each of your input as to the day of the week to schedule the meeting.  Sunday and Mondays are out.  Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday, Friday and Saturday are possibilities.  However, Friday and Saturday may not be the best day since people typically do plan out of town trips for weekends.

So which day (Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday) would you prefer us to meet?

Another question I have is about the time of the meeting.  Is 8am good or do we need to meet earlier or later?  I was hoping to beat the crowd at Duffers by scheduling it at 8 am.

What will we do at the Monthly “Break Fast” Meeting?

My vision for our meeting is to eat a healthy breakfast together and share our experiences with fasting.  We can support each other in our efforts to continue to fast for our health.  I will be providing some information about fasting and research on fasting and information about any events the national WeFast Community has planned. We can plan our own challenges and events also if we like.

For now, this site is still under construction.  I will be adding lots of links to resources that can help us in our fasting journey.

About Me

I am Shirley Dawson, a fairly new resident of Bella Vista, Arkansas.  We moved here permanently in July of 2016, although we are not strangers to Bella Vista.  We have been visiting Bella Vista for almost 10 years on vacations and we purchased our retirement home in 2013.  Both I and my husband, Mel, are now retired.  He from being a Financial Adviser and me from my Computer Specialist job with FDA. I’m currently 63 years old and have been overweight since I was 35.  I have type 2 diabetes, fibromyalgia and degenerative disc disease.  I use a wheelchair most of the time.  My goals for doing Intermittent Fasting are as follows:

  1.  Lose Weight
  2.  Cure my diabetes
  3.  Get out of this wheelchair

Since I began IF, I have lost almost 30 pounds, reduced my insulin injections and got rid of a lot of the fibromyalgia pain.  I am definitely a believer in the benefits of fasting (both extended and intermittent). Reading Dr. Jason Fung’s book was the catalyst for my beginning IF.  You can read all about me and my IF journey on my personal blogsite:  Growing Old With Diabetes

I would love for you to leave any questions or comments below.  In addition, I’m open to new topics to research and comment on as they pertain to fasting, both extended and intermittent.  Please share your interests and questions in your comments.  I also love to hear others stories about how others handle their own fasting journey.  I will be sending out a monthly newsletter starting in 2019.  If you would like to receive that email newsletter, you can sign up here.
